Welcome to the Kingsland Massage-Depot!
Following is some information about what you can expect when you come in for a Massage Therapy session.
GREETING: We are very happy so see you. We would like to meet you and give you a tour of the Kingsland Massage-Depot. We will show you where the treatment rooms and restrooms are.
INTAKE FORM: You will then be asked to fill out an Intake Form (front and back) that gives us some information about you and your health history, including any medications that you might be taking. Your Massage Therapist will then go over your intake form with you in order to tailor your session to your needs; such as a relaxing massage, or a massage that involves more bodywork on specific areas that are experiencing pain or tightness.
MEDICATIONS: We ask that if you are taking any medications, that you take them at least 4 hours before you come in for your session, or wait until after your session to take them. Massage can affect the absorption rate of medicines, it can also lower your blood pressure. Please be sure to discuss your medical history with your Massage Therapist before your session, so that they can be prepared and can avoid any areas that need to be avoided. In some cases, it may be necessary to obtain permission from your physician in order for you to receive massage. Please consult your doctor if you have any questions about how massage may affect you.
It is also important for you to let us know if you have any allergies to nuts or oils, as many of our products that we use have these in them.
TREATMENT ROOM: We currently have two treatment rooms, one of which is wheel chair and walker accessible. You will be guided to yours and shown where to place your personal items. We will show you the massage table and discuss with you whether you will be starting your session laying face down, face up, or laying sideways (used mostly for pregnancy massage) on the table.
ESSENTIAL OILS/AROMATHERAPY: We like to incorporate essential oils and hot towels in to our massage sessions. Different scents can have different influences on the client, such as relaxing or energetic. You will have the option of smelling different oils and choosing the one that you would like to use for your session.
TYPES OF MASSAGE: We specialize in Therapeutic, Non-Sexual massage. Our goal is to help you relax and reduce pain and discomfort associated with the muscles in your body. We utilize a variety of techniques that we have been trained in, including but not limited to: Swedish, Deep Tissue, Sports Massage, Pre-Natal, Hot Stone, Reflexology, Chair Massage, and Medical Massage. Each session is designed specifically for the client. You can discuss with your therapist what benefit you are looking for (relaxation, pain relief, bodywork, etc.) and they will tailor the session to you.
DRAPING: We respect your privacy and modesty. We use proper draping techniques with sheets and blankets to make sure that you are comfortable during your session. We ask that you allow us to maintain these boundaries throughout the session, to ensure that both the client and the therapist are comfortable. If at any time you are too cold or too warm, please let the therapist know and the proper adjustments can be made.
TIME ON THE TABLE: We do not "start the clock when you walk in the door", nor do we count the time that we spend with you discussing your intake form or treatment plan with you. The amount of time that you schedule for your session is the amount of time that you will receive. If you are running late we will do our best to give you your full massage time. Although, if we have a client following we will have to end your session in due time to make sure we begin our next service on time. If you wish, you can also ask your Massage Therapist to extend the amount of session time that you had originally scheduled. If their schedule permits, the therapist can either accept or decline.
With that in mind, we ask that you respect our time as well, and arrive promptly for your session. If you need to reschedule a session, please give us at least 24 hours notice to avoid a cancellation fee. This allows us time to find someone else that can benefit from the session time that you had reserved but no longer need, and allows us to earn our living.
ENDING YOUR SESSION: At the end of your session, your therapist will let you know that it is over by saying "Thank You" to you. The therapist will then leave the room to allow you to get dressed. Make sure that you rise up off of the table slowly, to avoid getting dizzy. Many people experience a "Massage Haze" afterwards and feel like they are not completely awake. We encourage you to take your time and come out of the treatment room when you are dressed and ready. We will have a glass of water waiting for you when you come out.
TIPPING/ADDING GRATUITY: Tipping is not required, but Graciously Accepted. If you are paying for your session by credit card and would like to add a tip/gratuity to show your appreciation for a great session, please let us know the amount before we process your credit card. You can also add tips to checks and be sure that your Massage Therapist will receive it. Cash is also always welcome and can be given directly to your therapist if you wish.
SCHEDULING: We hope that you enjoyed your session with us and would like to come back again. When you check out is a great time to go ahead and book your next session. This way you are more likely to get your preferred date and time.
REFERRALS: Referrals of your family and friends is the highest compliment that we can receive. We are a small business that is independently owned and operated. Referrals are our life blood. As a Thank You to you, we have a Referral Program. For each person that you refer that becomes a client (they need to put your name on their Intake Form as the person that referred them), you will receive either 5 minutes of Chair Massage, or $5.00 off of your next session with us.
Thank you for Trusting us with your body. We hope that your experience with us is a pleasant one. If not, please let us know how we can improve our service.
